Your Monday Hug for Sep 15, 2025: Inner Voice

 Happy Monday, my Friend!

This week at Knots of Grace, we’re taking a moment to tune in to something we all have but sometimes overlook—our inner voice. That quiet, gentle nudge from God inside our hearts is always guiding us toward what’s right, even when the world around us is noisy or unfair.

Have you noticed how easy it is to ignore that small voice? We get caught up in deadlines, social media, or just the whirlwind of daily life. Yet the still, quiet voice God placed in our hearts is always speaking. This week, let’s slow down, listen, and follow where it leads—even in small decisions. Listening well today makes our tomorrows calmer, wiser, and filled with God’s peace.

A Story That Inspired Me

This week, I was inspired by Fr. Mike Schmitz’s homily about “Words Fail.” He shared a story about a student asking a seminarian brother two questions about Jesus’ death. After hearing the brother’s answers, the student reflected and realized: maybe Jesus died not only for the whole world, but for one person - the Good Thief, St. Dismas.

It made me stop and think: if God can care so personally, so individually, for that one person, then surely He is speaking to me and you personally through our inner voice. How often do we discount those quiet nudges or negative self-talk that cloud what God wants us to see in ourselves?

Take a few minutes with this week’s reflection. Listen closely - what is your inner voice saying? Sometimes God whispers through our conscience, sometimes through the example of saints who patiently endured life’s challenges.

God is pleased with you when, for the sake of your conscience, you patiently endure unfair treatment. - 1 Peter 2:19 NLT

The legendary actress Loretta Young once said, "If you listen to your conscience, it will serve you as no other friend you'll ever know." How true. Even when we deceive our neighbors, and even when we try to deceive ourselves, God has given each of us a conscience - a small, quiet voice that tells us right from wrong. We must listen to that inner voice, or accept the consequences.

Have you acquired the habit of listening carefully to that still, small voice God has placed in your heart? If not, it's time to start, because God put it there for a very good reason: to use it. And the best moment to use it is always the present one.

"While conscience is our friend, all is at peace; however once it is offended, farewell to a tranquil mind." - Lady Mary Wortley Montagu

Untying the Knots Within – One Step at a Time

Looking for a simple way to pause and listen to your heart this week? Here are a few gentle ways to tune in to God’s inner voice and reflect on what matters most:
  • Mini Prayer: “Lord, help me listen to Your voice within me. Guide my thoughts and actions so that I may live with peace and courage.”
  • Quiet Practice: Find 5–10 minutes this week to sit quietly with a rosary in hand. Focus on your breathing, and invite God to speak to your heart. Ask Him to help you notice those little nudges toward kindness, patience, or courage.
  • Saint Companion:
    • Our Lady of Sorrows (Sept 15) – She endured grief and sorrow with quiet strength, always listening to God’s will in her heart.

    • Saints Cornelius & Cyprian (Sept 16) – These early leaders faithfully followed their conscience in the face of misunderstanding and adversity.

    • Saints Andrew Kim Tae-Gon & Paul Chong Ha-Sang & Companions (Sept 20) – Martyrs who trusted their inner convictions, standing strong for their faith.
  • Rosary Moment: While praying, picture these saints beside you. Let their courage remind you that listening to your conscience is not always easy - but always right.
  • Product Tip: Grab a single-decade knotted rosary for a few quiet moments of prayer. You don’t have to complete the whole rosary - allow it guide your listening and conversation with God, letting your inner voice speak.

Product Inspiration: St. Dismas

Knots of Grace - St. Dismas rosary marker + Irish Heritage Tenner Rosary with Penal CrucifixInspired by the homily and the idea that Jesus’ sacrifice was personal - even for one person - I created something special: a Limited Item - St. Dismas, The Good Thief Medal Rosary Marker or Zipper Pull.

My inner voice kept saying, “keep it simple,” and I almost overcomplicated the design. But simplicity won out, and now you can add this small reminder of God’s personal love to any rosary. I put mine on the Irish Heritage Tenner Rosary with Penal Crucifix, because what Christ did for St. Dismas, He also did for me… and you.

A Bit of Fun

Check out this TikTok by sam_demma that caught my attention this week: especially this part ... “Don’t let that guy’s positivity rub off on you” 😆

It made me laugh, but also think: how often does our inner voice resist positivity or encouragement? How can we flip it so the Holy Spirit’s guidance moves through us instead of self-doubt.

Let's pray ...

May you hear God’s quiet voice in every moment this week. Take small steps in listening, trusting, and following His guidance—peace is closer than you think.
