Your Monday Hug Devotion for August 11, 2025: What's Really Important
Happy Monday, my Friend!
This week’s reflection is one I think you’ll really connect with. It’s a timely reminder to pause and ask: Am I focusing on what truly matters? In a world that shouts for our attention with wealth, status, and beauty, it’s easy to forget that God’s priorities are different - He looks at the heart. And that’s where our focus should be too.
The truth is, there’s nothing wrong with enjoying good things - financial stability, lovely possessions, even recognition. But when those take the place of faith, peace, and love for others, we’ve gotten off track. This week’s reflection invites us to set down the world’s checklist for success and pick up God’s instead.

I hope this short reflection encourages you to realign your priorities so that your heart - and your calendar - reflect what matters most to Him.
What's Really Important
Excerpt from Hugs: Daily Inspirations for Women
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. - 1 John 2:15
Financial prosperity is a good thing, but spiritual prosperity is profoundly more important. Yet society often leads us to believe otherwise. The world seems to glorify material possessions, personal fame, and physical beauty above all else. But these things don't rank so highly with God. God sees the human heart—that's what's important to Him.
As you establish your priorities for the coming day, remember this: the world will do everything it can to convince you that certain things are important. You'll be tempted to value fortune above faith, possessions above peace, and power above people. But if you'll listen, God will whisper in your heart the truth—that faith, peace, and people are more important than fortune, possessions, and power. Listen to Him.
"People make a mistake in believing they're going to be in paradise if they have more money." - Mahalia Jackson
Untying the Knots Within – One Step at a Time
Looking for gentle ways to re-center your heart this week? Here are a few ideas:
- Mini Prayer: “Lord, help me to love what You love and see what You see. Keep my heart grounded in faith, peace, and love for others.”
- Quiet Practice: Take 5 minutes today to write down your top 3 priorities. Then ask yourself - do they match God’s?
-
Saint Companion:
- St. Clare (Aug 11) – Known for her deep trust in God’s providence over material wealth.
- St. Maximilian Kolbe (Aug 14) – Lived out sacrificial love in the face of evil.
- The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Aug 15) – A reminder that the ultimate “success” is eternal life with Christ.
- Rosary Moment: Use this week to pray a decade specifically for God to help you let go of worldly distractions and cling to Him.
- Product Tip: You don’t need a long block of time - just start with one decade. That’s how I began, and it’s still my favorite way to reset during the day.

Close in Prayer: Mary, Mother of God, Pray for Us
As we reflect on this week’s devotion and the saints we honor, let’s turn to Mary, Mother of God, whose faith and love guide us in staying focused on what truly matters.
Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us.
Guide our hearts to seek faith over fortune, peace over power, and love over possessions.
Help us to listen to God’s whisper amid the world’s noise.
May we follow your example of trust, humility, and unwavering love.
Amen.
