Your Monday Hug for Jan 26, 2026: Staying the Course

Happy Monday, my Friend!

Some weeks ask us to begin.
Other weeks ask us to keep going.

This week, we’re thinking about quiet perseverance - the kind that doesn’t look flashy, but slowly changes us inside.

There’s a difference between being knocked down and being defeated. One is a moment. The other is a choice. Whether in prayer, rosary devotion, or small acts of love, returning to God each day can transform ordinary moments into grace-filled ones.

Many of us are in seasons that call for this kind of faithful  perseverance:

  • showing up again,
  • praying again,
  • trying again,
  • loving again - even when it feels like nothing is changing.

The saints knew this well. Holiness doesn’t come in grand gestures alone. It grows in returning to God again and again, in the quiet moments when we might otherwise drift.

Take a few quiet minutes to watch this week’s video reflection. Then sit with God for a moment and ask yourself:

  • Where am I being invited to just keep going?
  • What small act of faithfulness is God asking of me today?
  • Or maybe simply rest — remembering that falling doesn’t mean failing.

Staying the Course

Excerpt from Hugs: Daily Inspirations for Women, 2005

"Even though good people may be bothered by trouble seven times, they are never defeated." - Proverbs 24:16

“Just don't give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there's love and inspiration, I don't think you can go wrong.” - Ella Fitzgerald

Untying the Knots Within – One Step of Faith at a Time

This is a week to remember: you don’t have to do everything. You just have to keep returning to God, little by little.

  • Mini Prayer: "Lord, when I feel tired or discouraged, help me to return to You again. Give me the grace to keep going in small, faithful ways. Amen."
  • Quiet Practice: Choose one moment each day when you normally feel rushed or distracted. Instead of reacting, pause and whisper: “I’m still here, Lord.”
  • Saint Companions for this week: Let their lives guide you as you practice faithful perseverance in your own daily routines.
    • St. Timothy (Jan 26): A young bishop entrusted with great responsibility, Timothy stayed faithful despite hardship and illness. He reminds us that perseverance often looks like quietly carrying what has been given to us.
    • St. Angela Merici (Jan 27): She founded a religious community amid uncertainty and resistance. Her life shows us that steady trust in God can sustain us when the path forward isn’t clear.
    • St. Thomas Aquinas (Jan 28): Known for brilliance, but also for long seasons of study, silence, and disciplined work. He teaches us that greatness grows from daily commitment, not bursts of inspiration.
    • St. John Bosco (Jan 31): A tireless servant of young people who refused to quit when resources were scarce. His joy flowed from simply continuing the work God placed before him.
  • Product Tip: Let your Pocket Rosary be a gentle reminder to turn toward God. Pray one decade or simply repeat the Holy Name of Jesus — a quiet, faithful way to return to Him anytime, as St. Bernard taught.

Let’s pray …

Lord,
When I feel weary, remind me that I am not defeated.
When I fall, help me rise again.
Give me the grace to keep showing up in prayer, in love, and in trust.
Take my small efforts and use them for Your glory.
Amen.

Walking with you in faith,
Kathleen
