Your Monday Hug for Oct 6, 2025: A Lesson about Success
Happy Monday, my Friend!
The Gospel from Luke this week offers a powerful lesson on faith and humility. In Luke 17:5-10, the apostles ask Jesus to “Increase our faith!” and He responds with a parable about a servant who fulfills his duty without expecting praise or reward. When the servant has done all that was commanded, Jesus says he should simply respond, “We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.”
It’s a beautiful reminder that faith and obedience aren’t about recognition - they’re about love and trust. We’re called to serve God with humility, not for applause or approval, but because it’s the right thing to do.
That ties perfectly into this week’s theme: A Lesson About Success.
True achievement isn’t about being praised by others - it’s about knowing in your heart that you’ve done your best, used your gifts well, and followed where God has led you.
Success may be nice, but achievement - especially when done in love and faith - is far more fulfilling. It’s the quiet satisfaction of saying, “Lord, I’ve done my part, and I offer it all to You.”
As we enter this second week of October, the month of the Rosary, let’s ask Our Lady to help us grow in this kind of humble faith - to work hard, serve faithfully, and find joy not in recognition, but in grace.

A Lesson About Success
Excerpt from Hugs: Daily Inspirations for Women
We must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don't give up. - Galatians 6:9, HCSB
Actress Helen Hayes once said, “My mother made a distinction between achievement and success. She said that achievement is the knowledge that you have studied and worked hard and done the best that is in you. Success is being praised by others. Success is nice but not as important or satisfying. Always aim for achievement and forget about success."
Helen's mother was wise, indeed.
The secret of success often lies in the ability to place more importance on achievement than on recognition. If you want to be a success, forget about being successful and concentrate instead on becoming the best you that you can be. Then success has a way of taking care of itself.
“Starting out to make money is the greatest mistake in life. Do what you feel you have a flair for doing, and if you are good enough at it, the money will come.” - Greer Garson
Untying the Knots Within – One Step at a Time
-
Start with prayer: Ask God to bless your work today and help you do your best for His glory.
-
Define “your best”: Let go of perfection. Achievement is about effort, not outcomes.
-
Celebrate small wins: Recognize the little ways you’ve shown up and grown - even when it’s unseen.
-
Pause for perspective: When you feel pressure to perform, ask, “Who am I doing this for - others or God?”
-
Mini Prayer: “Lord, help me to work with joy and humility. May I give my best each day, not for praise, but as an offering of love to You.”
-
Saint Companions: This week, let Our Lady of the Rosary and Saints Bruno, Denis, John XXIII, and Carlo Acutis remind you that true achievement flows from quiet faithfulness, courage, and humility.
-
Refocus through gratitude: Thank God for the abilities and opportunities He’s given you to serve.
-
Seek humility: Let go of the need for recognition and trust that God sees your quiet faithfulness.
-
Product Tip: Hang a Carlo Acutis Traveler’s Rosary on the rearview mirror in your car. Let it remind you to pause, thank God for your efforts, and release any need for outside approval.
-
Rest in grace: Remember that your worth isn’t measured by applause but by love.

Let's pray ...
Lord,
Thank You for the talents and opportunities You’ve given me.
Help me to work with joy, to give my best, and to measure my worth by Your love - not by the praise of others.
Let every small effort I make be an offering to You.
Amen.
