Guardian Angel prayer

The other week I posted on Instagram that one of my favorite morning routines is my morning cup of espresso and asked what other favorite habits people had.  Because I loved what @liketwigsbutbetter shared, "Saying the Guardian Angel and St. Michael prayers before bed", it stuck with me.

One of the reasons the comment stuck with me is because the Guardian Angel prayer has such sweet memories for me.  Every day after school, but before we could collect our kids, everyone - parents, students & faculty said the prayer.  Then Dana would run out and give me hug (if she wasn't being cool with friends that day) and we'd walk to the car and get ready to leave.  Even now, I get a little choked up when I say it, which always makes me laugh. (I'm such a sap!)

This sweet memory & the fact I had so many orphaned beads inspired me create my Guardian Angel Charms.  Last year, we took the charms to a new level and Dana drew a sweet Angel my Guardian Angel Charm display cards.  And on the back of the cards is the prayer:

Angel of God
My guardian dear
To Whom His love
Commits me here
Ever this day
Be at my side
To light and guard
To rule and guide. Amen

The other reason the comment stuck with me is because I don't have a specific prayer I say every day.  I do pray each day, sometimes it's more formal, like saying a decade of the rosary or just a prayer I know from childhood, but most of the time I pray for someone or tell God how grateful I am for something happening in my life that day.  But the comment got me thinking if there was a prayer I'd like to say daily.  And honestly, because of the sweet memories I have of the Guardian Angel prayer, I'm just going to follow in @liketwigsbutbetter's footsteps and start saying it before I go to bed.  And over time, it may lead me to say something else.

Thanks @liketwigsbutbetter!
