A Steady Purpose

- Excerpt from Hugs, Daily Inspirations for Women

There is one thing I always do. Forgetting the past and straining toward what is ahead, I keep trying to reach the goal and get the prize for which God called me. - Philippians 3:13-14

In 1797 Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin was born in London. She was the daughter of radical philosopher William Godwin and feminist Mary Wollstonecraft. At age nineteen Mary Godwin married the noted English poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. Later she authored the Gothic novel Frankenstein.

Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley once observed "Nothing contributes so much to soothing the mind as a steady purpose - a point on which the soul may fix its intellectual eye."

Today is a wonderful day to contemplate the overriding purpose that guides your life and soothes your soul. What are you passionate about? What were you born to do? Find out and begin it today.

"It is not a matter of thinking a great deal but of loving a great deal, so do whatever arouses you most to love."
- Saint Teresa of Avila
