Your Monday Hug Devotion for May 5, 2025: Marriage and Commitment

Welcome to this week’s Monday Hug Devotion!

As we step into a new week, let’s take a moment to reflect on the deep value of love and commitment in our relationships. In a world that often encourages quick exits and easy fixes, we’re reminded that the promises we make - especially in marriage - are sacred and worth the effort.

In this week's video, you’ll find:

  • Encouragement to honor your promises with love and faithfulness
  • A reminder that strong relationships require intentional effort
  • Hope to strengthen your heart and renew your commitment

After watching, reflect: How can you bring more love and faithfulness into your relationships this week? Where might God be asking you to dig in and grow?

Marriage and Commitment

Let love and faithfulness never leave you ... Write them on the tablet of your heart. - Proverbs 3:3

The Bible makes it clear; love and commitment are to be intertwined. That's especially necessary in a marriage relationship. Unfortunately, we live in a world where marriage vows are taken too lightly. Too many couples are far too quick to push the panic button - or the eject button - and the results are both predictable and unfortunate.

When we vow to love our partner "till death do us part," we must take that promise seriously. And we'd better be willing to do the hard work required to make the marriage last.

If you're a married woman (or if you're thinking about becoming one), please take the advice of Proverbs 3:3 seriously: write the words love and faithfulness on the tablet of your heart. And be sure to use permanent ink!

" Marriages may be made in heaven, but a lot of the details have to be worked out here on earth." -  Gloria Pitzer
