Being Gentle with Yourself: Embracing God’s View

In our hectic lives, we often criticize ourselves too harshly. But 1 Timothy 6:6 reminds us that true wealth comes from being ourselves before God.

Instead of being overly critical, try to see yourself through God's eyes: as a beloved and worthy daughter. Real self-acceptance means living with integrity, nurturing positive thoughts, and finding a purpose that aligns with both our Creator’s will and our own.

God accepts us as we are. We should extend that same grace to ourselves. As Ruth P. Freedman said, “Change occurs when one becomes what she is, not when she tries to become what she is not.

Being Gentle with Yourself

A devout life does bring wealth, but it's the rich simplicity of being yourself before God. - 1 Timothy 6:6

Are you your own worst critic? Why not try being a little more understanding of the woman you see whenever you look into the mirror?
Millions of words have been written about various ways to improve self-image and increase self-esteem.

Yet maintaining a healthy self-image is largely a matter of doing three things: behaving ourselves, thinking healthy thoughts, and finding a purpose in life that pleases your Creator and yourself.

God accepts us just as we are, and self-acceptance is a part of His will for all of us. If God accepts us - faults and all - then who are we to do otherwise?

"Change occurs when one becomes what she is, not when she tries to become what she is not." - Ruth P. Freedman

Mary, Mother of God, pray for us!
