Your Monday Hug for Dec 15, 2025: Source of Our Comfort

Happy Monday, my Friend!

Welcome to the 3rd week of Advent. This is the week we pause to notice joy — not the loud or flashy kind, but the quiet joy found in small moments, gentle comforts, and the steady reminder that we are not walking this season alone.

So I hope you take a moment now to watch this week's video reflection, and spend some time with God afterwards, sharing whatever comes and listening for whatever He provides, even if it's just silence and stillness.

Source of Our Comfort

Excerpt from Hugs: Daily Inspirations for Women, 2005

"May Your faithful love comfort me, as You promised.” - Psalm 119:76 HCSB

We live in a world that is, at times, frightening place. We live in a world that is, at times, a discouraging place. We live in a world where life-changing losses can be so painful and so profound that it seems we will never get over them. But with God's help, and with the help of encouraging family members and friends, we can recover.

During the darker days of life, we are wise to remember that God is with us always and that He offers us comfort, assurance, and peace. Our task, of course, is to accept these gifts.

When we trust in God's promises, the world becomes a less frightening place. With God's comfort and His love in our hearts, we can tackle our problems with courage, determination, and faith.

“Sometimes the very essence of faith is trusting God in the midst of things He knows good and well we cannot comprehend.” - Beth Moore

Untying the Knots Within – One Step of Faith at a Time

This week invites us to simplify, soften our hearts, and allow God’s steady presence to bring peace where we may feel weary or unsure.

  • Mini Prayer: God of peace, help me slow down today and receive Your care. Open my heart to quiet joy and gentle trust, even when I don’t have all the answers. Amen.
  • Quiet Practice: Take five quiet minutes today. Sit comfortably, take slow breaths, and with each breath silently say, “Sub tuum praesidium" (meaning "[Mary,] under your protection"). Try to let go of the need to fix or figure anything out.
  • Saint Companions from late last week:
    • Saint Lucy (Dec 13): Patron saint of those with vision challenges and a symbol of light in darkness, St. Lucy reminds us to ask God for clarity and hope. This week, invite her to help you notice small lights of joy and goodness, even in uncertain moments.
    • St. John of the Cross (Dec 14): Patron of contemplatives and those walking through spiritual dryness or confusion, St. John teaches us that God is still at work even when we don’t feel it. Ask for his intercession to trust God’s presence during quiet, unseen seasons.
  • Product Tip: Use each knot on your Pocket Rosary to recite the Surrender Prayer - surrendering yourself and worries to Jesus while finding joy in the surrender.

Let’s pray …

This Stillness of Soul prayer from St. John of the Cross

O Blessed Jesus,
give me stillness of soul in You.
Let Your mighty calmness reign in me.
Rule me, O King of Gentleness,
King of Peace.

Amen.

Walking with you in faith,

Kathleen
