Your Monday Hug Devotion for August 4, 2025: Today
Happy Monday, my Friend!
It’s been a little while since I recorded a video, but I’m back today with a short reflection I think you'll really enjoy. It comes from one of my favorite devotionals, Hugs: Daily Inspirations for Women, and it's a sweet reminder that each day is a sacred opportunity - to love, to live with intention, and to trust in God's promises.
As Lamentations 3:24 reminds us:
“The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in Him!”
Sometimes we forget just how much of a gift today really is. But every sunrise is a chance to begin again - and this week is full of invitations to pause, reflect, and reconnect with your faith.

I hope this short reflection encourages you to pause and embrace today as a gift.
Today
The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him! - Lamentations 3:24
It’s sad but true: most of us find it surprisingly easy to take for granted the gift of life. As Austrian writer Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach observed, "Nothing is so often irretrievably missed as a daily opportunity."
Miguel de Cervantes, the Spanish novelist, dramatist, and poet, wrote, "Tomorrow will be a new day. When God sends the dawn, He sends it for all." Four hundred years after those words were penned, they still apply. Each new day is a fresh opportunity for all.
Today you have been given another chance at life. This is a new day, another opportunity to live, to love, to rejoice, and to contribute. Consider this day a gift, a sacred treasure to be savored and shared.
“Yesterday is a cancelled check; tomorrow is a promissory note; today is the only cash you have - so spend it wisely.” - Kay Lyons

Close in Prayer: Hail, Holy Queen
As we reflect on today’s message and the lives of the saints we’re honoring this week, it’s especially fitting to turn to Mary in prayer.
August is the Month of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, a time to deepen our love for her and to imitate her quiet trust, tender strength, and openness to God’s will. The saints we remember this week - like St. Dominic and St. John Vianney - were deeply devoted to her, and both pointed others to Jesus through the Rosary.
Let’s end today with a Marian prayer that continues to bring comfort, clarity, and strength to those who pray it:
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy,
our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve,
to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious Advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us,
and after this our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God,
that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Amen.
